CAMP ROC STAR

“I will never forget what I went through to get my son to his first year at Camp Roc Star. He had no interest or desire to attend. “Why can’t I just jam with my friends in the garage? - I already take piano lessons….. why do I have to take guitar lessons now?” I even brought him to the Taste of Rochester Festival three weeks prior to camp starting because Uncle Plum was performing there. Even after meeting Elvio in person after the show and being told how much of a Rock Star he was going to be treated like…. my son was still upset with me that I had signed him up. So, I made a deal with him. I told him that if he attended the first day of camp, and hated it as much as he thought he was going to, that I would eat the tuition cost and he could stay home the rest of the week. Needless to say, my son attended his second year at camp this past summer. Since his first year, his fear of playing in public has completely disappeared. The camp is not just a music camp. The experience changed my son’s direction and led him down a positive path I am not sure he would have traveled otherwise. These two years at Camp Rocstar, at least for my boy, have resulted in a sense of level headed confidence that was not there before. The experience is one that makes me feel very grateful that kids in Rochester, NY get to have the opportunity to work closely with such incredible talent.”
